馃槇 TAXES: THE SOLUTION TO THE WELFARE STATE? 馃槇

There are many ways to view taxes. It can be justified, in general terms, as a contribution to be protected by the State (it has a monopoly on the law), as a way of financing the oligopolistic political class of each country and its inefficiency, or as a way of redistributing the inefficiencies of the system and have a better life. It does not matter the way, nobody wants to pay it, unless you were an ultranationalist or populist...

The relevance comes from the current process of deglobalization and inflation (ironically caused by the states), where nationalisms will be a trend. In fact, many political discourses could go on to raise them as a way for the citizen has prosperity, in order to save the State and the political classes themselves.

A priori, if you see the map, the tax benefits seem obvious when compared to underdeveloped countries (white colour). But, if this is true, why Europe is not better than US? Perhaps the European Welfare State is a fallacy derived from their last years of stagnations and the cheap Russian gas that it received and now no longer.

There are other countries with a nice future where taxes are fewer like South Korea, Australia, Ireland, Swiss or US. That shows taxes are not a panacea and it the solution might be in the innovation capacity of each country and other conditions (watch: https://lnkd.in/eSDvPGP3 or https://jjplindex.blogspot.com/2023/02/most-innovative-countries-why.html )
