馃く WHY DO WE WORK SO HARD? 馃く

Having understood the Hard Work Fallacy, it is time to analyse which variables can explain the hours worked in each country. Some of them can be found in:
1. Proficiency position into some sector or economic activity
2. Some monetary factors
3. Employment and similar policy

About the first, in the post Geopol铆tica del Conocimiento can be pointed the educational model of each country as a cause, in face to required skills for any advanced industry. About the second, the post Purchasing Power Parity: 5 factors analyses some influential variables that may also be concomitant to this issue. About the last point, is one of hardest to measure and standardized in many countries.

Employment and similar policy are related with human behaviour. Due to this, it was selected as a variable the Corruption Perception Index (CPI) of 2022. The CPI is published annually by Transparency International, a non-governmental organization that works to combat corruption. The CPI is based on surveys of businesspeople and experts who are asked to rate the perceived level of corruption in a country. In summary, CPI represents the human and state factor sought in the comparison.

The chart shows that there is an inverse correlation with ± -83.4%, but only the CPI can explain the hours worked tren by ± 69.6%. The estimation error is ± 105.1 hrs. From the sample, each point of CPI increases or decreases in ± -14.6 hrs the time worked by year (linear terms). The median value of the ratio Corruption/Hours is Israel. A priori, it may be concluded that thanks to corruption, we work so hard.

As a gift from Joel Padilla, the model equation is:
-0.002228752x^3 + 0.269806869x^2 - 16.95851424x + 2425.540761

The best analysis is yours!
