馃拤 PHARMA: THE NEXT TREND? 馃拤
Today, everything revolves around AI. The bubble will eventually burst, but perhaps not today [see: https://jjplindex.blogspot.com/2025/11/ai-new-bubble.html ]. Perhaps, in a few decades, it will become a commodity with no more relevance than the internet or some advanced software to compensate for population decline and prevent unions. What will never be a commodity is cutting-edge scientific research.
The last news has turn into a common denominator: biopharma and health. The most trended topics has been:
- European plans to combat a potential H5N1 pandemic
- Cancer trials with mRNA vaccines in the US and Russia
- Therapies against cellular senescence (anti-aging)
- Corporate eugenics [see: https://jjplindex.blogspot.com/2025/11/portfolio-corporate-eugenics.html ]
- GLP-1 and obesity drugs
- Legalization and increasingly frequent use of anabolic steroids
- Development of substances to treat mental illnesses that, "curiously," are becoming more frequent and more commonly discovered.
Perhaps what is not yet evident is the need to develop performance-enhancing drugs to address nuclear and non-nuclear warfare scenarios [see: https://jjplindex.blogspot.com/2025/10/world-war-or-social-repression.html ]. This could even include bacteriological weapons that alter the DNA of specific population groups. In fact, this also could be a cause of the increase in drug trafficking worldwide; but that's a topic for another future post.
No matter the cause, the real fact is the relevance of the sector. Talking about industries, this could be a mix between Biotechnology and Drug Manufacturers. Both are important. The first may take some time due to research and patents; the second is essential to produce those medicines that have lost their patents and to be in alliance with large pharmaceutical companies to strengthen the supply chain.
The chart shows 15 examples of some margin ratios for companies linked to biotechnology and pharmaceutical manufacturers. It is, of course, presented for illustrative purposes. Any investment decision should be filtered through other additional metrics.
The best analysis is yours!
